Hi guys, I'm so fired up but the nearest snow is northern maine 8 hrs drive. anyways I need to dump some exhaust weight obviously, don't want it crazy loud, I like the quieter bikeman one I saw on youtube. I'm not savvy enough to do a clutch kit but want yer opinion incase I have a mechanic do one. I planned to do the studs myself, was gonna do (108 count) 1.325's ...what brand & type should I use, I was going to keep them towards middle. would someone here be willing to mail me a template? I plan to wrap the sled & was going to order FX arctic from Polaris site solid voodoo blue or solid summit blue, has anyone used this product? I ride 90% on trail & like to rip corners & lean on the throttle. thank you guys take care

i've been on the site for a while but didnt have much to talk about since I just had a 2004 xc 800. i'm 190lbs and as stated in previous post..... I'm 90% on trails, I ride hard, love to lean into corners & hammer throttle coming out

Ok so fast trail? Keep the studs in the center band between rails do you do any racing?im trying to figure out a good all around length

I like to pretend I'm racing my buddy on the trails though :)

we line up a couple times a season, not much at all, we don't ride lakes much or race on them really

I was thinking if I have to brake hard into a turn then hammer throttle coming out of turn I want it to respond well. also if I'm doing 40mph & see a straight away I want to go from 40mph to 80-90mph real quick.

I like Hornets myself, your length based on what you have said is fine. I like longer myself. All preference. I think they have that length, your going to want to be around a 1.5 ish , cuz there going to wear down some.

I did some quick searching & couldn't find a basic center stud template for the 16, what material stud would you recommend?

I always assumed studs were for when conditions got icy, because my 04' XC has center studs & outer studs but I can still kick it out a little on a groomed trail around turns when I wanna mess around, I dont want them too long, too much bite may cause me to get bucked off in a turn haha. am I wrong in thinking studs just for when there is ice under an inch of snow on the trails or for a lake crossing?

There are 48 bars on a 137 (48) pitch track, so every four bars then repeat. Do a V pattern, next set of four bars, slightly move the studs so it makes its own scratch mark, you will have 12 sets of four total , for s total of 48 bars.

haha wow im so dumb, instead of just looking at my old sled & its picks im allowing myself to get confused as to what a "backer" is lol. thanks for yer help guys. of course they all need backers jeez

total of 96 I can see it now :) thank u. opinions on clutch or exhaust? gotta get rid of that huuge heavy can, heard its 50lbs total

oh nice! ya the tech at dealer loading my sled showed me exhaust & said theres yer 50 lbs. thanks guys.
