I did a visual inspection of these and from the outside they looked to be centered and operational. Is it work taking them out to make sure they are still working properly?

There was snow the first time. Only an inch or two but it was there. My questions is why would it drive fine one second then be locked up 10 minutes later when I went to load it into the truck. What is the drive lack bearing? I can check that as well.
